After October 7, Israel's Military Intelligence established a cell called the "Legitimization Cell" to find info to legitimize whatever Israel decided to do in Gaza. A key objective was to find info to accuse journalists of being Hamas to justify their assassination. They came up with nothing.
So they just decided to lie, because killing the journalists and depriving the world of insight into the genocide was too important.
Yet media outlets all over the world repeated their false accusations over and over again - without any scrutiny.
Complicity.
