Anyone saying "if Hamas surrenders, the war would be over" is outright lying Israel is making clear that if Hamas surrenders, releases all captives, exiles its leaders & demilitarizes Gaza, Israel would still "completely hold control of the entire strip FOREVER", depopulate it & annex it to its territory!
