The 71-13 Knesset vote is an open confession that Israel’s ruling bloc intends to discard every pillar of international law and the two-state framework.
Under UN Security Council Resolutions 242, 338 and 2334, along with the Fourth Geneva Convention, the West Bank remains occupied territory; all settlement activity is expressly illegal. By declaring that the area is “inseparable” from Israel and urging full sovereignty, the Knesset has placed itself in direct breach of those instruments.
Speaker Amir Ohana’s claim that “the occupation ended in 1967” exposes the project’s core dogma: conquest equals “return,” Palestinians are incidental, and any legal restraint is irrelevant.
This vote therefore buries the two-state illusion, cements a one-state apartheid reality (citizenship for Jewish settlers, permanent subordination for Palestinians), invites fresh universal-jurisdiction and ICC scrutiny, and broadcasts that Zionist maximalism is now codified policy. Any actor still invoking “peace process” language after today is laundering annexation by denial.
