Drawing on historical patterns of colonial reaction and the definition of genocide as the intentional destruction of a group, Shaw argued that Israel’s bombardment and displacement efforts targeted Palestinian society as a whole. He criticised Western governments and media for denying or downplaying the atrocities, highlighting what he called “democratic” and “international” complicity in the genocide. Shaw emphasised that this crisis is fuelling wider regional destabilisation while also shifting public opinion in the UK and beyond.
