If you want to understand Israel, don’t start with 1948. Start with Manifest Destiny. Start with settler colonies. Start with the belief that some people are chosen and others are obstacles. Then add modern weapons, imperial funding, and a press that calls dead children a "complicated situation." And you’ll start to see what the West is really defending.
