This is the psychology of empire: They do not want peace. They want a monopoly on violence. They want to kill without consequence. Invade without resistance. Occupy without guilt. What they fear is not war. What they fear is parity. They never mourn the dead when they are the ones doing the killing. They mourn the loss of impunity. But the monopoly is broken. The world they used to kick around is kicking back. And the only reason they are crying now is not because it is wrong. It is because, for once, it is them.
