Israel's far-right national security minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, spoke at a right-wing protest in Jerusalem calling for the appointment of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's nominee for Shin Bet chief, David Zini. Ben Gvir boasted about reforms he had made in the national security ministry, saying that Palestinian prisoners “enter the prison fat and come out thin.” He called for the death penalty for prisoners he describes as “terrorists” and advocated for expulsion and settlement in Gaza. The rally was attended by 10,000 people, according to Israeli media, where protesters gathered to oppose Israel's Supreme Court and Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara. Netanyahu addressed the crowd in a video recording, saying, "I'm proud of you. I'm proud because you are expressing something that most Israelis understand and want – real democracy.”
