What makes the Holocaust the worst crime in history?
The subjugation, enslavement, and destruction of African people by Westerners is a much greater crime than the Holocaust, in terms of numbers and duration. Likewise, the destruction of native Americans is an immeasurably greater crime than the Holocaust. An entire civilization was made extinct. Not 1/3 of it. 99% of it.
Western colonialism destroyed the lives of hundreds of millions of people, with the specific aim of ending their cultures and populations. Why is this constantly being ignored? Because they were not Europeans? Isn't this the very supremacist view that brought us here?
We need to get past this dangerous 'worst crime' phase. Jews are not super people, and crimes against them are not super crimes. It is this false hierarchy that paved the way to the destruction of Palestine.
All people are equal, period. P-e-r-i-o-d. It is people who don't believe in this basic truth that have brought all those disasters upon humanity, and continue to do so, and, paradoxically, the Holocaust became not a historical warning against collective stigmatization, but a license and an encouragement to do so.
