That’s what this is all about, the powerful trying to silence one of their strongest critics.
This their playbook. Just like what they did to female journalist Khadija Ismayilova from Azerbaijan who had sex tapes released in an attempt to silence her.
In 2012, after investigating corruption involving President Ilham Aliyev’s family, she received a threatening letter with intimate photos taken by hidden cameras in her apartment. When she refused to stop her reporting, the videos were leaked online. Ismayilova continued her work, and in 2019, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that Azerbaijan violated her privacy and freedom of expression, ordering the government to pay her damages.
