A lawless world where people like Trump can bully smaller countries and that encourages impunity in the face of war crimes, crimes against humanity and other atrocities, or where any country considers itself above the law is one that endangers everyone, including Australia.
We should express our strong support for the global legal system, the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice, and disgust at the (another) attack on it, by Trump.
Without clear guard rails to the actions of all countries, as imperfect and in need of reform as the current system is, the future is far more uncertain for everyone.
Trump has demanded that countries like Australia support his assault on the international order.
We should, in fact, be the court’s strongest supporters.
And signatories to this letter.
