Residents who played joyous music during weddings were punished, as were women who wore colorful hijab. Road signs demonized Shia Muslims and celebrated Ayman al-Zawahiri, the co-founder of Al Qaeda. These are the same theocratic forces celebrated today by pro-Israel DC think tankers and Beltway officials as they march on Aleppo and Hama. NATO and the Middle East's self-proclaimed "only democracy" are doing their best to help them expand their model.
