I would direct readers to the history of the terms "Islamism" and "Islamist" (the latter of which was only coined in about 1979) as well as the phrase "Islamic terrorism" all of which were invented and popularised by Zionist intellectuals and assets under the tutelage of a certain Benjamin Netanyahu. Bernard Lewis is key to this as you can see in the extract below:

Netanyahu created the Jonathan Institute (named after his brother, killed at Entebbe) to purse these interests. their first conference was in Jerusalem in 1979. "Islamic terrorism" only very briefly mentioned at this event.

But in Washington DC in 1984, there was a whole panel devoted to the topic chaired by the aforementioned Bernard Lewis.
