if one peels back the decades of cultural and political indoctrination, it would reveal the utterly facile, stupid, and precarious zionist lies and absurd tales.

responding to a troll for the benefit of others. the term 'mizrahi' is a word invented in the 20th century. it began as an acronym, coined by a rabbi in Belarus, denoting the term "spiritual center," a political party within the larger zionist movement. they campaigned in the Pale of Settlement to imbue Jews with a dream they never had, and convince them to move to Palestine. When linguist Eliezer Ben-Yehuda was tasked with inventing modern Hebrew (Hebrew had been a liturgical language only), he had to borrow extensively from Yiddish, Arabic, and, as in the case of "Mizrachi," from acronyms. it was assigned the meaning of "of the east" because "spiritual center" could refer to the sun, which rises in the east. as European Jews came to Palestine with the xenophobia and supremacist ideologies of their European compatriots, they could not abide Arab Jews simply being Jews, because that (God forbid) would put them in the same category of human as them. at the same time, they needed to strip them of their Yemeni, Iraqi, and other Arab origins; so they called them mizrahi. and that, dear mindless troll, is the meaning, origin, and history of the word. and while these Arab Jews did indeed eat the same cuisines as their countryfolk, and they continued that culinary tradition when they became colonizers in Palestine, that food does not become "Israeli" any more than a taco becomes American just because Mexicans live, cook and eat in the US. if one peels back the decades of cultural and political indoctrination, it would reveal the utterly facile, stupid, and precarious zionist lies and absurd tales.

Define Mizrahi for me, if you can.

suggested reading: the biography of Chaim Weizmann. Belarusian Rabbi Shmuel Mohilever and Lithuanian rabbi Rabbi Yitzchak Yaacov Reines, who founded the movement. "Spiritual Center" in Hebrew is "Merkaz Ruhani," which he abbreviated Mizrachi. All that said, no Arab Jew ever self identified as Mizrahi prior to zionism.
