He's an insane warmonger for sure (the guy was literally a professional pro-Iraq war activist) but he does seem aware of the balance of power. Why do you think the US only wages war against small weak states (and even then, never wins)... Although of course this type of rhetoric will undoubtedly be used to yet again justify increasing the size of the military-industrial complex, because if the US can't win wars with a $1 trillion yearly budget, maybe it's because it just doesn't spend enough money
