The ball is in Washington's court, will not offer more in Vienna: Iran

The spokesperson for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian parliament, Mahmoud Abbaszadeh Mishkini, says that the West's reluctance in negotiations is due to its efforts to obtain more concessions from Iran.

Tehran: We will not offer more concessions in Vienna

The spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Mahmoud Abbaszadeh Meshkini said today that his country is "in the process of resolving all contentious issues in the nuclear negotiations in a way that meets its ambitions," noting that "the Western side is not showing goodwill towards us.

"We believe that the West's reluctance in the negotiations is due to its efforts to obtain more concessions from Iran," Meshkini added, stressing that his country "will not offer more." 

He concluded, "The ball is in Washington's court, if negotiations are serious, then an agreement could be reached within hours." 

In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres about regional and international developments, the Iranian Foreign minister blamed the US' maximum pressure campaign on the current situation while noting the continuation of the exchange of messages between Iran and the US via the EU in the talks. 

He also criticized the Biden administration, saying that reaching a lasting, robust and fair agreement requires a realistic decision by the US government to redress its past mistakes.

Earlier today, the Iranian Nour News agency reported that the European Union coordinator on nuclear talks, Enrique Mora, will visit Iran next Tuesday, adding that "this trip may be a new step in constructive consultations on the few remaining important issues" at the Vienna talks.
