Israeli Airstrikes Hit Near Damascus Airport, Syria Says Others Intercepted

Latest Israeli attack hits ammunition storage

Jason Ditz

Syrian state media has confirmed an Israeli attack near the Damascus airport on Tuesday, saying they’d intercepted “most of them.” They said there were no casualties, but there was damage to material.

As with many previous attacks, the strikes appear to have targeted warehouses near the airport used to store ammunition. Israel has in the past accused these warehouses of being used by Iranian militias.

Not that Israel made such accusations this time, or anything else for that matter. In keeping with policy of not commenting on attacks first reported in foreign media, Israel is not commenting at all on what happened.

The lack of confirmation leaves open the question of just how many strikes Israel has carried out, and why. In general, reports of such attacks are frequent, at least weekly and sometimes more regular than that.
