IAEA: New Iran Centrifuges Won’t Increase Uranium Output
New centrifuges installed, not fed fuel yet
Jason Ditz
Building on an IAEA report from last week on Iran, the IAEA has elaborated on the new Natanz centrifuges, saying they are in operation, but have not been fed any feedstock gas yet.
While the IAEA confirmed the new centrifuges are technically not allowed, they also confirmed something very important, that that uranium-enriching has not in any way been increased by it.
That reflects that those hostile to the nuclear deal, basically the US and Israel, are continuing to complain about technical violations, and on paper issues, while the reality is that there simply are no proliferation risks.
Yet hostility toward Iran is seemingly an end unto itself, and with the US wanting to keep adding to sanctions, it’s clear they don’t need good reasons, just nominal pretexts.
