Israel Attacks Airport in Syria’s Central City of Homs

Syria reports damage, no casualties

Jason Ditz

Continuing Israel’s trend of growing attacks on Syria, the airport in Homs was struck Wednesday. The Syrian state media confirmed the incident, saying they’d intercepted most of the rockets, and limited the attack to material damage without casualties.
The Israeli military declined to comment, saying it was in accordance with policy not to comment on reported Israeli attacks. This has been particularly true in Syria, where almost none of their strikes are officially commented upon.

There is little question that these are Israeli attacks, however. Most such Israeli strikes target Shi’ites, which Israeli media will portray as Iranian whether or not any Iranians are actually involved.
In this case it’s not clear who the target was, as strikes on the airport are more generally an attack against the Syrian nation, and there is no sign this was meant for a specific faction.
