UN Condemns Saudi Airstrikes in Yemen That Killed Children

Fourth such attack against civilians in North Yemen since June

The UN issued a statement criticizing Thursday’s Saudi air strikes in Yemen, which killed civilians, including at least nine children. This was the fourth incident of civilian deaths since the beginning of June.

The UN envoy called for a transparent investigation into the killings, which with Saudi Arabia involved clearly won’t happen. The Saudis have been allowed to investigate themselves, and that’s always ended in their favor.

The envoy added that “Yemenis deserve better than a life of perpetual war.” The Saudi have not commented on the attack at all. This is common, as the Saudis didn’t comment on the previous incidents either.

Recent Saudi strikes seem to happen nowhere near any military targets, and instead just hammer civilian homes in residential neighborhoods, killing people hiding within.
