Top US General Claims North Korea Building New Missiles ‘Fast as Anybody’
Hyten provides no evidence to support this claim
Jason Ditz
Speaking in Washington on Friday, Gen. John Hyten, the vice-chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, accused North Korea of “building new missiles, new capabilities, new weapons as fast as anybody on the planet.“
This would be shocking if true, as the North Korean government has very limited capacity for such development, and has done next to no tests since diplomacy began in earnest. Hyten didn’t offer any evidence for his allegation, either.
Gen. Hyten’s comments were built around his own agenda, for the US to spend more on space weapons and to just start deploying them into orbit without so much testing, arguing North Korea has proven “speed itself is efficiency.”
Hyten has long been an advocate of a much more aggressive US Space Force, and has expressed frustration with the current method of development, despite the lack of any apparent wars in space that would require all these hastily assembled assets.
