Report: Israel Retains Security Control Over Palestine Under Trump Deal

US expects Palestinians to reject proposal

Jason Ditz

Reports on President Trump’s long-anticipated Middle East peace plan have been making the rounds over the past few days, with the plan expected to be unveiled next week. Israeli TV Channel 13 is the latest to report on the matter.

According to the report, Israel will be getting everything they want in the plan, and the Palestinians seem to be offered very little, with US officials fully expecting the Palestinians to reject the proposal.

On the security front, the US would continue to endorse full Israeli military and security control over the entire occupied West Bank, including any possible future Palestinian state. The Palestinians, by contrast, even if they got a state, would not be allowed to ever have an army, to ever sign a military treaty, or to have any control over their own borders.

Other reports also suggest that the US plan is deliberately lopsided in Israel’s favor, and that is in keeping with what the administration has suggested would happen, arguing that there was no reason for the US to be impartial in offering such proposals.'
