‘US and clients don’t feel safe in Middle East because they’re despised,’ says Iranian FM

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Iran is not the reason for mounting animosity in the Middle East, but rather hatred for the US, in a scathing tweet directed at the American “B-team.”
Zarif wrote on Twitter Tuesday: “If US and clients don’t feel safe, it’s because they’re despised by the people of the region - blaming Iran won’t reverse that,” along with a series of screenshots from articles about the US deploying a carrier strike group and a bomber task force to the region.
It’s not the first time Zarif has taken aim at the so-called “B-Team,” which includes National Security Advisor John Bolton, and Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, who he says are trying to “lure President Trump into a confrontation that he doesn’t want.”
The scathing tweet comes amid a heated war of words between Washington and Tehran. On Sunday, Bolton announced that the USS ‘Abraham Lincoln’ Carrier Strike Group and a bomber task force would soon arrive in “the US Central Command region to send a clear and unmistakable message to the Iranian regime.” As Zarif noted in his tweet, the deployment was only recently announced but it actually took place last month.
