US Suspends All Flights Between US and Venezuela

DHS officials claim 'safety and security concerns'

Jason Ditz

The US Department of Homeland Security has announce on Wednesday that all flights between the United States and Venezuela are indefinitely suspended. Officials are saying this is because of security concerns

When the Trump Administration was dialing up talk of an invasion of Venezuela, they were gradually cutting off all US-Venezuela contacts. This is clearly a continuation of that, as the flight halt is being presented as primarily because the Maduro government isn’t letting US officials inspect their airports.

This seems to be a permanent until regime change situation, with officials saying the flights will be suspended until “if and when the conditions in Venezuela change.” President Trump is demanded regime change in Venezuela.

This flight ban impacts both commercial and cargo flights. It’s not clear how many that wound impact, however, as American Airlines and Delta Airlines had already halted flights to Venezuela earlier in the administration’s dialing up of tensions. '
