A Swedish national accused of attending a terrorist training camp in Syria has walked free from court after his barrister argued that MI6 had supported his rebel faction.
The case against Bherlin Gildo, who was arrested during a stopover at Heathrow, was thrown out after the prosecution offered no evidence. The terror charges related to weapons training and possessing terrorist materials, including a magazine called 44 Ways to Serve and Participate in Jihad.
It can now be disclosed that Mr Gildo, 37, had posed with weaponry and dead bodies as he became a notorious propagandist for Islamist rebels.
The court heard that the Swedish security services helped Mr Gildo return to Sweden after he turned his back on the rebel group.
