South Korea Upbeat After North Korea Talks

Delegation's visits to Pyongyang, D.C. a major success

Hopes for diplomacy are riding high in South Korea after a delegation of top officials were deployed last week on high-profile visits both to Pyongyang, North Korea, and later to Washington D.C. to meet with President Trump.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in
It’s not hard to see why. The delegation had a very positive visit in North Korea, further improving ties. They then visited the White House and got President Trump to agree to enter direct talks with North Korea’s Kim Jong-un.

South Korean officials are now talking with Japan’s government, trying to get them into talks as well. Japan is said to be open to the idea, but a bit tentative. South Korea, however, is as upbeat as possible on the situation, and is expecting things to just keep improving.

South Korea came into recent months with hope for diplomacy, and seems to be getting everyone on board. With the US and North Korea also now committing themselves to improving diplomatic ties, and even direct negotiations, there seems to be plenty of reason for continued optimism, and for South Korea to expect things to keep improving in general.
