Saudi Strikes Kills Two Civilians, Wounds Several Children in North Yemen

Adding yet more bodies to the soaring number of civilian casualties inflicted by Saudi airstrikes against Yemen, Saudi warplanes carried out four strikes on early Wednesday in northern Yemen, near Saada. Two civilians were killed and a number of others wounded.

Three strikes hit a single family’s home, killing a woman and her daughter, and wounding a number of other children within. A fourth strike hit a relative’s house, next door, wounding those who survived the initial attack.

Saudi Arabia invaded Yemen in early 2015, and has since killed thousands of civilians in airstrikes. Concerns about the war crimes have grown internationally, but particularly in the US and UK, as both nations sell substantial arms to the Saudis, which adds to concerns of culpability in the war crimes. The US has also provided direct aid to the Saudi campaign.

The US Senate is soon to vote on a bill which would require an end to US military involvement in the wr, as Congress never authorized the conflict. Those wishing to contact their senators to urge them to support SJ Res. 54 should call 1 (202) 899-8938.

The US War Powers Act requires that Congress authorize any US military operations of the sort being carried out in Yemen. Since 2015, the US has conducted mid-air refueling for Saudi warplanes, and committed warships to the naval blockade which is fueling starvation across Yemen.
