This Is What Systemic Oppression Looks Like

by

Still, their stunt didn't go over well. It wasn't just the money - which was bad enough - but the gross stupidity and hypocrisy played out against another white nationalist march in Charlottesville that happened at the same time but prompted not a word from the Buffoon and his lackeys. The Pence farce got slammed on social media - "Don't forget, I'm an asshole too!" - and that radical rag USA Today and the NFL Players' Association, which celebrated players as union members and "conscientious Americans who continue to be forces for good through our communities." It also praised as "a source of enormous pride" the fact that "conversations about these issues have taken place (in) a respectful, civil and thoughtful way that could serve as a model for how all of us can communicate with each other."

Eric Reid, the 49ers safety who last year kneeled alongside former quarterback Colin Kaepernick, said it even straighter and stronger. Dismissing Pence's "PR stunt" - and noting he and Mother never go to football games anyway so gimme a break - he got astutely, in-your-face political. "This is what systemic oppression looks like," he said. "A man with power comes to the game, tweets a couple of things out, and leaves (with) an attempt to thwart our efforts.”

A final reminder from Kaepernick on what this is all about - which is, he said a year ago, "bigger than football." "There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."
