At town hall, Sen. Warren says Israel Anti-Boycott Act ‘violates our basic constitution’

The Democratic groundswell against the Israel Anti Boycott bill continues to build, and progressive party leaders are falling into line. The issue is coming up regularly in town halls.
Jewish Voice for Peace has lately posted video of progressive icon Senator Elizabeth Warren at a town hall in Revere, Mass., on Saturday, saying she does not support the Israel Anti-Boycott Act that is roiling the Democratic base– that was scripted by the Israel lobby group AIPAC and that Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon supports but that Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of NY opposes.
JVP member William Ruhm asks, “Senator Warren will you stand with us in opposing the Israel Anti-Boycott Act?”
Sen. Elizabeth Warren
Senator Warren:
“Let me say two things in response. The first one is I do not support the boycott, I think the boycott is wrong. But I think outlawing protected free speech activity violates our basic constitution.”
Warren then turned to Congressperson Katherine Clark, who was also at the Town Hall.
“You feel the same? Good. We got two of us here.”
