In Their Own (Hateful) Words
by
In a climate awash in Trumpian vitriol, Palestinian advocates are calling out the same, inflammatory, rarely challenged bile long expressed by U.S.-backed Israeli politicians who insult, threaten, dehumanize and incite violence against what they likewise view as "the other" in their midst. In a new campaign ad aimed at U.S. college campuses and other media outlets, the Palestine Advocacy Project simply quotes from high-profile Israeli lawmakers, ranging from Benjamin Netanyahu's claim that the way to handle Palestinians is to “beat them up, not once but repeatedly" to the Minister of Education's boast "I’ve killed lots of Arabs in my life" to the Minister of Justice's declaration that Palestinians are all "snakes" and "enemy combatants, and their blood shall be on all their heads."
The campaign launches at a time when personal attacks on Palestinian advocates both in the U.S. and abroad are on the ugly rise, as Israeli increasingly targets Palestinians with what are now over 50 racist new laws, and as the apartheid wall of Donald's fever dreams continues to wreak havoc on millions of occupied lives. After years of American pandering to the well-funded Israel lobby - Netanyahu once famously said, "America is a thing you can move very easily" - the campaign urges Americans to start "connecting the dots and holding Israel's leaders accountable."
Toward that end, they are wisely "letting Israeli leaders do all the talking for us," much like letting Donald rant and rag and blather on, to try to bring us to our alleged senses.
