Selfie storm: Unprecedented tweet-fest in Iran during Obama speech broadcast live

Iranians took to Twitter as US President Barack Obama’s speech on Iranian nuclear deal, hammered out in Switzerland, was broadcast live on TV uncensored.

In response to the deal and the speech, young Iranians grabbed at the opportunity to make unusual selfies - against the TV screens with Obama - and posted them to social media.

All in all, the breakthrough deal and the talks got 460,000 mentions on social networks over three days, independent digital advocacy strategist Jon Tilton told USA Today.
Officially, Twitter is banned in Iran, but members of the public access it using methods of avoiding government filters.
