DITCHING PHOTOSHOP Lingerie Ads Ditch Photoshop for the 'Real You'

Aerie Lingerie Ads Ditch Photoshop

 for the 'Real You'

BY NEHA PRAKASH

Lingerie clothing brand Aerie joins a slew of other companies who are ditching Photoshop and size-zero models for a more positive body image.
Aerie, the sister clothing company to American Eagle Outfitters, launched the "Real" Spring 2014 campaign which uses completely un-airbrushed models in their ads. The images, photographed by John Urbano, portray girls lounging in their underwear, with the copy, "The girl in this photo has not been retouched. The real you is sexy."

The ads don't shy away from healthier body types, portraying curves and skin folds not common in glossy lingerie images. The ads are "challenging supermodel standards," the company said in a press release Friday.
Aerie's website also makes use of plus size models — when customers shop online, the models wearing the clothes and their body types change accordingly.
