small red fire extinguisher at boudhanath

The Nepal Armed Police  have Boudhanath surrounded these days.  And they are armed with small, red, fire extinguishers.

The recent self immolation there, by a Tibetian Monk from Tibet,  has got them working overtime. Under Chinese orders, of course. The new Chinese ambassador (from the Security Branch of their Foreign Minsitry) has a busy schedule ahead. Because the self modulations are continuing. One was reported in China again.

Radio Free Asia said 28-year-old Lobsang Thokmey was the 108th Tibetan to have self-immolated in a string of protests against Chinese rule and religious restrictions starting in February 2009. His protest took place on the fifth anniversary of government killings in the area.

RFA said he set himself on fire inside his room in Kirti monastery in Aba county on Saturday.
