'Sorry' day Down Under - 2008
Five years ago, this day, I was in Canberra - witnessing a historic event. February 13th 2008 was the day when a newly installed PM , Kevin Rudd, famously said " Sorry" . His Sorry was for the Stolen Generation - Aboriginal Children taken from their families and forcibly assimilated into White Australia. It was not a "sorry " an apology to all the aboriginals for all the crimes committed by colonising whites. In fact. beyond the words, nothing really changed. Rudd's Governmnet continued John Howard's( the previous PM) policies of grabbing Aboriginal Lands in the name of Protecting Aboriginal children.
These are some of the pictures I shot that day. A day of hope for a future that has yet to be seriously addressed.
