cultural roots. reconnecting to a "traditional " cultural/political space.

The Police in Siddhartha Art Gallery  apparently thought of  the controversial  paintings as "Gai Jatre' .
It was there, it seems, that they thought t the paintings belonged.  WOW

There is a space for socio- political art in "traditional" societies . Always was and still is.

Modern, Gallery oriented artists exhibiting in galleries- on the sanitising white walls- are loosing out in a big way. Loosing out as they cut themselves off from their  cultural  roots.

This opens up a whole new space about the place for ART in a' Modern'  society. Something that needs a lot more thought.

I need a  lot more information about the political space for Art in so called "traditional " Nepali society.

Street theatre in India, like Therakoothoo in Tamilnadu, looks traditional but I know, from experience, how it connects with contemporary  sociopolitical issues of the street . On the street.

Something that the 'traditional' performance artists' like the Behrupias  do too.

Gai Jatra, Bhaktapur.      NOT JUST A MEMORIAL WALK FOR THE DEAD.
