Palestinian artist and activist Lubna Speitan says the passing of a motion declaring “Zionism is racism” could become the start of a worldwide movement, during an interview with Palestine Deep Dive. The motion was passed by the Green Party of England and Wales, a UK political party, at its annual conference and officially adopts the position that Zionism is racism. Speitan, the lead proposer of the motion, described its passage as a “seed planted” that could spread beyond the party and said she hoped the position would be adopted by trade unions, political parties and organisations around the world. “This is beyond a motion. This is a movement. This is a seed planted here,” Speitan said. She said the result showed the party was “completely undivided” in opposing oppression, occupation, genocide, apartheid and racism. “This will be a worldwide movement,” she said.
