Netanyahu is pathetic. He could only find one so-called expert to refute all the overwhelming evidence that Israel committed genocide. One retired colonel!

From the UN podium, he called Col. John Spencer probably the world's expert on urban warfare and repeated Spencer's line that Israel takes more measures to minimize civilian casualties than any military in history. 

Notice the trick. Israel stands accused of genocide, and Netanyahu answers with a lecture on battlefield tactics. Genocide is judged by acts and intent under the 1948 Convention.

Even the lecture falls apart. Conflict statistician Michael Spagat says Spencer's numbers and conclusions are both false, and estimates that about 80% of Gaza's dead were civilians. A classified Israeli military database, exposed by +972 Magazine, Local Call and The Guardian, showed 83%. And Newsweek deleted the claim, from an op-ed Spencer co-wrote, that Gaza's population had actually grown.

Now listen to the people who study genocide for a living. The International Association of Genocide Scholars, the largest body in the field, voted 108 to 18 that Israel's conduct in Gaza meets the legal definition of genocide. They pointed to nearly all 2.3 million Gazans forcibly displaced, again and again, and more than 90% of homes destroyed. An independent UN commission of inquiry, B'Tselem and Amnesty International reached the same conclusion, while South Africa's genocide case against Israel sits before the International Court of Justice.

On one side stand the world's genocide scholars, UN investigators and almost all credible human rights experts. On the other stands a man who hosts an urban-warfare podcast.

That is Netanyahu's entire defence.
