“As far as I’m concerned, we have essentially defeated Iran.” Donald Trump, aboard Air Force One hrs ago.
It is statements like these that keep alive questions about whether the president is still fully cognitively coherent.
This report, 2 min ago (as of 10:57pm, 15 March 2026), from Israel: “The Israeli military has twice in about two hours said that it had detected Iranian missile launches toward Israel, told people in affected areas to seek shelter.”
Also from Today, Iranian leaders defiantly refuse any option for a cease-fire, concluding that they have leverage over the United States, and time is on their side.
Does that sound like a nation that has been totally defeated, as the president claims?
Logically, if they were defeated, there would be no sense in asking other countries from around the world to help open the straits, they would already be open.
The truth is, because of this war of choice by the president, we are in serious trouble, because there is no military option to open the straits that we can afford, in a timeframe that can avoid serious negative consequences.
