Leg-spin great Shane Warne has taken another swipe at Adam Goodes, saying it was "ridiculous" those who boo the Sydney champion were being branded as "racist".

The former Test cricketer took to Twitter to say that fans should be entitled to boo an athlete if they did not agree with the way he/she played the game.

This whole Adam Goodes drama is ridiculous. The public can boo or chant whoever's name they want ! It's nothing to do with being racist....
"This whole Adam Goodes drama is ridiculous. The public can boo or chant whoever's name they want ! It's nothing to do with being racist," Warne tweeted to his 2.27 million followers.
"If the public don't like a sportsman because of the way they play the game, they boo, if they like them they cheer, nothing to do re racism."

It is not the first time Warne has attacked Goodes via social media. Last September after a Swans game against Richmond, Warne said he was "shocked" Goodes had been named Australian of the Year seven months earlier and told the footballer to "stop staging for free kicks mate".

Warne's views will resonate with those who believe they are justified in booing Goodes.

His tweets sparked an outcry on the social media site with many ridiculing him for getting involved in the issue.

Warne reacted by tweeting: "Hilarious & so over the top. The people that want to voice their hysteria can go for it !!!!!"
