The mega-email dump from the Epste1n files reveals the crisis of legitimacy of Western leaders, which will immensely benefit to the image of China. In my book (2022), I argued that Western leaders think they have found a successful model of governance in China that they can easily replicate on Western populations. They believe that China's governance is basically a set of tools for population control. That explains the gross media exaggerations in Western media about the so-called "Chinese-style social credit system" (which does not exist as an integrated national-level policy, as I have argued here before). It is one of the many preposterous scary tales designed to portray China as some revengeful dystopic dictatorship, and to reassure the Western populations that "although freedom of speech and press, financial freedom and soon the sanctity of the home must be curtailed for their own safety, namely to fight terrorism and child abuse, it will never get as ugly as in China because we are "a democracy". Apart from the fact that Western leaders talk and get inspiration from a China they completely fantasize, they lack one major element to be on par with the Chinese leadership : legitimacy in the eyes of their own people. The deep flaws of liberal democracy have become obvious in the West : plummeting participation in ballots, verbal and physical defiance to the leaders, widespread electoral fraud, media manipulation of voters, constant rioting, collapse of safety, etc. Western leaders cling on their electoral results and some bogus popularity ratings to justify their power, and to disregard accountability : despite corruption scandals, the same political staff stays in power, simply changing positions when they've been caught (the more corrupt and incompetent, the higher the promotion). In China, corruption is heavily punished, and no one is shielded from justice, all the way to the top, as the investigation on Zhang Youxia has recently proved. The CPC, although not immune to criticism, has total legitimacy in the eyes of Chinese people : it kicked out the compradore class AND the Japanese invader at the same time in 1949, preserved the country's integrity for decades while facing both Russian and Western hostility, and in 1978 it engineered the biggest, fastest economic comeback in the history of humanity, and pulled 800 million of people out of poverty, before becoming the economic juggernaut we know today. That kind of indisputable legitimacy, today's Western leaders not only lack, but are moving further away from, as the Epste1n files are showing. That's why #China must be vilified in Western media and power circles. Even though it was not going for all the marbles, it is in fact racking them all up.
