EXPOSED: Reza Pahlavi is an Israeli Influence Operation Targeting Iran
Investigations by Haaretz and TheMarker, backed by findings from Citizen Lab, expose a coordinated Israeli-backed digital operation in Iran.
Hundreds of fake accounts posed as Iranians, pushed AI content, deepfakes, and staged videos, all amplifying one message: elevate Reza Pahlavi as Iran’s future leader.
The network was activated during Israeli military actions, including the Evin Prison strike. Accounts posted “local” updates before Iranian media, then spread fake explosion footage later picked up globally.
The campaign also boosted Israeli officials tied to Pahlavi, including Likud minister Gila Gamliel, revealing alignment between online manipulation and state geopolitical goals.
Iranians were recruited. AI tools generated videos, avatars, protest calls, and even fake BBC Persian headlines. This was synchronized influence warfare, not activism.
Iranian frustration with the regime is real. But hijacking that anger with foreign-run fake personas only reinforces Tehran’s claim that regime change narratives are externally engineered.
This is how modern power works now. Narrative first. Legitimacy later. Reality optional.
