The shocking detention and four-hour interrogation and harassment of the globally respected professors Richard Falk and Hilal Elver by Canadian authorities on “national security” grounds as they entered Canada this weekend to speak on human rights in Palestine is just the latest example of the total disregard for international law of Western governments captured by the Israeli regime and its proxies and their willingness to abuse state power in order to persecute human rights defenders on behalf of the Israeli regime. All Canadians should be worried about this abusive trend, and its implications for Canadian democracy and for their own rights.
