Here’s why a true G2 will never happen.
First, the US would have to get rid of its “China containment” policy.
Imagine then the US removing all its sanctions on semiconductors, AI, Chinese tech companies like Huawei, BYD etc.
That would cripple or even devastate big US companies - from Apple and OpenAI to Tesla and Nvidia. End of US hegemony and tech dominance.
Politically, it would be impossible, since Sinophobia is deep-rooted in the US now.
Even Republicans and MAGA will scream that “Trump is a puppet of the CCP.”
Plus, the US military industrial complex is simply not going to pack up and leave the military bases in Japan, Korea, Philippines etc.
For eight years, every part of the US establishment has been crying that “China is an existential threat and the biggest enemy.”
None of those people have changed their minds about China.
Also, American allies like Europe have not been consulted, and will not go along with this sudden shift.
Theoretically, anything is possible, but a complete overhaul of the global security architecture cannot be done by social media posts.
