Israel and the western media are hyping Iranian displays of preparation for conflict as "Iranian aggression" and "Iranian vengeance" against Israel. Frankly, that's insane.
Every time Israel fails in its attempts to perpetrate genocide in Gaza it opens a new front. Israel has already fought a war of subterfuge with Iran in June, a war achieving very little other than Iranian deaths and a diversion of the global eye from the Gaza genocide. With the rolling recognition of Palestine, Israel is once again failing to reach its own self-defined goals. Opening another war with Iran is very much par for the course as far as Israel is concerned, exclusively for purposes of political expediency.
Iranian preparations for such a war demonstrate a clear understanding of political reality. Iran understands the likelihood of Israel simply attacking in the wee hours at some near date. Iran is sending a message that it will withstand another offensive and that it is not deterred. In doing so, Iran scores major points with Gulf frenemies. It emerges as the single regional power willing to stand up to the incessant provocation of the regional rogue, Israel.
If anything, I see myself as a “witness.” I’d also be pleased, if you’d call me an “interpreter.” WIM WENDERS
