Rachid Khalidi’s The 100 Year War on Palestine documents the fact that this happens over and over and over again. Any US negotiator that comes close is undermined, subverted and muscled out. Any negotiator of any party to the conflict that opposes Israeli policy and comes close to a negotiated settlement is assassinated. That says a great deal about why and how things happen, and what has blocked a resolution for a very long time: Israel’s Zionist objective and the lebensraum it requires.
